Guide
How to display EPDs online.
EPDs sell cattle — but only if a buyer can read them. Dumped into a wall of tiny numbers, they get ignored. Presented well, they build trust fast.
Here’s how to show EPDs on a breeder website so buyers actually use them.
Lead with context, not just numbers
A raw EPD means little without a reference. Show breed percentile alongside each value so a buyer instantly knows whether a number is top 5% or middle of the road.
Order by what matters
- Put the traits your program is known for first
- Group calving-ease, growth, maternal and carcass logically
- Surface the dollar-value indexes ($B, $M, API, BMI) prominently
- Keep it readable on a phone — no horizontal scrolling
Make them verifiable
Pair EPDs with the registration number and a one-click link to the herdbook. A buyer who can verify in one tap trusts the whole page more.
Straight answers
Common questions.
Should I show every EPD?
Show the full profile, but lead with the traits and indexes that matter most so the important numbers aren’t buried.
How do I keep EPDs current?
A cattle admin (or a registry integration) lets you update values as new data comes in, without a developer.
Show your genetics the way buyers read them.
